Suggestions for The DMR Canada Net
For example: emergency traffic always gets priority. Then early check-ins for those that can't stick around. Then portables and mobiles. In the case of digital where just about everyone is on a portable, the definition should be anyone who is actually in transit.
From there, in the case of the DMR Canada Net, check-ins should go region by region starting with the east coast since they are closest to UTC and ending on the west coast. Included should be the VE0 (zero) call signs which covers Canadian waters of the Pacific and Atlantic (VE0 should go before VE1.) Don't forget the northern regions which I'll have to look up, but I don't believe they start with a "V".
Anyway, I believe this would help relieve the congestion the net seems to always experience where everyone transmits simultaneously.
Also, since it seems that the GTA is where 90% of the check-ins originate, you could consider zoning that area separately. For example: Check-ins from Toronto, then east of Toronto, then west, then north, then VE3.
This is all just a suggestion, of course. The DMR Canada Net is an excellent idea and I'd like to see it grow without stifling it's ability to handle traffic.
Best regards,
Augustin
